**Buffalo Police Department Reports Nine Gun Arrests from September 30 – October 6, 2024**

The Buffalo Police Department announced that there were nine gun arrests made between September 30 and October 6, 2024. During this period, a total of seven firearms were recovered.

On September 30, Felipe Fontanez, 50, was arrested at the intersection of Maryland and Efner streets. Police recovered a loaded Ruger Security-9 from Fontanez. The District Attorney's office requested that he be remanded, and Judge Tiffany Perry set bail at $80,000 A-E.

Also on September 30, Heather Stephan, 44, and James Young, 53, were arrested on the 100 block of Poplar Avenue. A loaded Glock 19 was recovered from the scene. The District Attorney's office requested remand for both individuals. Judge Tiffany Perry remanded Young and set bail at $80,000 A-E for Stephan.

On October 1, William Nguyen, 29, was arrested following a shots fired call at Massachusetts and 15th streets, where a residence was struck by gunfire. A loaded Glock 48 was recovered during the arrest. Nguyen claimed to have a valid pistol permit, which could not be verified at the time. However, at his arraignment, it was confirmed that he did have a valid pistol permit, and he was found to be in legal possession of the gun at the time of the incident.

The police department continues to address gun violence in the community. Further details on the other arrests and gun recoveries during this week are pending.
