**Buffalo Police Department Makes Arrest After School Threat**

Buffalo, NY – On October 9, 2024, the Buffalo Police Department announced that an arrest was made following a school threat that was reported on social media. The threat was flagged to the FBI's Buffalo office by TikTok, who then alerted the New York State Troopers. The troopers informed the Buffalo Police Threat Management Unit, which initiated an investigation.

The investigation led police to an apartment in Mariner Homes, where they obtained a Temporary Extreme Risk Protection Order (TERPO) that allowed them to conduct a search. During the search, officers recovered a Glock 19 firearm.

A 15-year-old male from Buffalo has been charged with making a threat of mass harm, which is classified as a class B misdemeanor under New York State law. Additionally, 33-year-old Yaireliz Santana Garcia of Buffalo has been charged with criminal possession of a firearm, a class E felony.

The Buffalo Police Department urges anyone who notices suspicious comments or activity to report it by calling or texting their confidential tip line at 716-847-2255.
