On February 27, 2023, Mrs. Caligiuri's first-grade class at East Aurora Union Free School District focused on the theme of respect. The students learned about fables, specifically reading a story about Anansi, which emphasized the importance of respecting others. After the story, the students selected words that represented Anansi's qualities.

Following the reading, the class participated in a circle discussion where each student shared their personal ideas on how they would demonstrate respect toward their teachers and classmates. Eli was recognized as the star student for his respectful behavior. The class received praise for their participation and effort in the lesson.
