**Buffalo Police Department Makes Arrest in May Homicide**

BUFFALO, NY – An arrest was made on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, related to a homicide that took place on Sunday, May 26, 2024.

At approximately 2:30 a.m. on that date, officers from the E district responded to reports of gunfire at the intersection of Main Street and Winspear Avenue. Upon arrival, they found evidence of a shooting outside the Luxor Steak & Lobster restaurant.

During the investigation, officers learned that the shooting victim, identified as 42-year-old Darius Spates of Buffalo, had been taken to ECMC by a private vehicle. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

Following the incident, homicide detectives initiated an investigation, which led to the identification of a suspect. Ronald Oneil, a 40-year-old resident of Buffalo, was apprehended without incident on November 27, 2024. He has been charged with one count of Murder in the Second Degree, classified under New York State Penal Law as a class A felony.

The case continues to be under investigation by the Buffalo Police Department.
