**Buffalo Police Department Makes Arrest in Homicide Case**

BUFFALO, NY – An arrest has been made in connection with a homicide that took place on May 26, 2024. The Buffalo Police Department announced the arrest on Wednesday, November 27, 2024.

At around 2:30 a.m. on the day of the incident, officers from the E district responded to a report of shots fired at Main Street and Winspaer Avenue. Upon arriving at the scene, they found evidence of a shooting outside of Luxor Steak & Lobster. It was discovered that a male victim had been taken to ECMC (Erie County Medical Center) in a private vehicle. The victim, identified as 42-year-old Darius Spates of Buffalo, was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Following the shooting, homicide detectives launched an investigation that led to the identification of a suspect. On November 27, 2024, the suspect, Ronald Oneil, a 40-year-old resident of Buffalo, was apprehended without incident.

Ronald Oneil has been charged with one count of Murder in the Second Degree, a class A felony under New York State Penal Law 125.25-1.
