As of November 15, 2024, the National Weather Service in Buffalo, NY, reports that the Buffalo and Rochester regions have not yet seen measurable snowfall this season. Typically, by mid-November, these areas have experienced at least one significant snow event.

Buffalo's latest recorded first snowflake occurred on November 22 in 1946 and 1985, while Rochester's latest was on November 20, 1918. Forecasts suggest that Rochester could break its record for the latest first snowflake this year, while Buffalo may also approach its record, depending on a large weather system moving in next week.

In addition, Buffalo recorded its latest measurable snowfall on December 18 in 2015, and Rochester on December 10 in 1948.
