In a report released by the National Weather Service in Buffalo, NY, September 2024 was noted for its warmer than usual temperatures across the region. Buffalo recorded an average high of 77.3°F, which is 5.0°F above normal, and an average low of 58.5°F, 4.0°F above normal. The total precipitation for the month in Buffalo was 2.99 inches, which is 1.11 inches below the average.

Rochester reported an average high of 76.7°F, 3.1°F above normal, with an average low of 56.0°F, 2.4°F above normal. Precipitation in Rochester totaled 3.69 inches, exceeding normal levels by 0.51 inches.

Watertown experienced an average high of 75.4°F, 4.2°F above normal, and an average low of 51.4°F, which is 2.6°F above normal. Watertown had a total precipitation of 2.08 inches, 1.48 inches below normal.

Buffalo's average temperature for September was recorded at 67.9°F, marking it as the 3rd warmest September on record. The highest average temperature on record for September remains 71.2°F, set in 1881. Despite the warmer weather, no record high or low temperatures were reported during the month.
